Terms of Service

Last updated: 17 May 2026

1. Who we are

Ode Events is a trading name of Laramattix Ltd, registered in Scotland (company number SC884319), with a registered office at Office 2/3 48 West George Street, Glasgow, United Kingdom, G2 1BP.

2. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account or using Ode Events, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account or use the service.

3. The service

Ode Events provides a platform for event organisers to create event pages, collect RSVPs, and build crowd-sourced photo albums. Guests can upload photos, leave comments, and respond to RSVPs without creating an account.

Events start as drafts and must be activated before guests can access them. You can activate an event on our Free plan (no payment required) or on a paid plan (Plus or Pro) with higher limits and additional features. Paid plans are activated via a one-time payment processed through Stripe.

4. Your responsibilities

You agree that you will not use Ode Events to:

  • Upload content you don't have the rights to share
  • Upload photos of identifiable people without their consent
  • Upload illegal, harmful, or offensive content
  • Attempt to circumvent access controls or security measures
  • Resell, sublicense, or white-label the platform or its features without our written consent

5. Content ownership

You retain ownership of all photos and content you upload. By uploading, you grant Ode Events a limited licence to store, process, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing the service.

Event organisers are responsible for ensuring that all content in their event complies with these terms and applicable law. For the purposes of UK GDPR, event organisers act as the data controller for all personal data collected through their event (including guest photos, RSVP responses, and comments) and are responsible for informing their guests how that data will be used.

6. Plans and payments

Ode Events offers multiple plans. The Free plan requires no payment and includes limited photo storage and a shorter retention period. Paid plans (Plus, Pro) are activated with a one-time payment processed via Stripe and include higher photo limits, longer retention, and additional features such as guest list RSVPs, co-organisers, and removal of Ode Events branding.

All payments are non-refundable. By completing payment you are requesting that we provide the service immediately and acknowledge that no refund will be issued.

You may upgrade from a lower plan to a higher plan at any time. Upgrade pricing depends on your current plan and is shown at checkout. Downgrades are not supported — because each plan sets a specific photo limit and retention period, reducing these after activation could result in data loss.

7. Data retention and storage limits

Each plan has a defined photo storage limit. Retention periods work as follows:

  • Album date set: all event data is deleted when the album window expires — calculated as the album open date plus the retention period for your plan (ranging from 7 days to 1 year depending on your plan).
  • No album date set: all event data is deleted 3 years after the event was created.
  • Unpaid draft events that have never been activated are permanently deleted 1 year after creation.
  • RSVP responses are deleted 90 days after the event start date, regardless of the album window.

Once an album open date has passed it is permanently locked and cannot be changed. If you set an incorrect album date and it can no longer be edited, please contact us at hello@ode.events. On paid plans (Plus, Pro), we will endeavour to assist provided the photo album has not yet been used by guests. On the Free plan, we are unable to make changes — please recreate your event.

We recommend downloading your photos and exporting your RSVP data before the retention period ends. Ode Events is not responsible for data loss after the retention period has elapsed or as a result of your failure to download content before scheduled deletion.

Organisers can delete their event and all associated data at any time from the dashboard, regardless of the retention period.

Financial and billing records are retained for a minimum of 6 years from the end of the relevant accounting period, as required by UK tax law. This applies independently of account or event deletion.

8. Content moderation

All photos uploaded to the platform are automatically scanned for prohibited content at the point of upload using AWS Rekognition. Images identified as containing explicit nudity, graphic violence, visually disturbing content, or hate symbols are automatically and permanently removed without notice. This applies to all uploads regardless of whether manual moderation is enabled for an event.

We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these terms or applicable law, and to suspend or terminate accounts at our sole discretion.

To report abusive content, contact hello@ode.events.

9. Account termination

You may delete your account at any time from your account settings, or by emailing hello@ode.events. When you delete your account, all events you own and their associated data (photos, comments, guest sessions, RSVP responses) are permanently and irrecoverably deleted. This includes any active paid events — no refund will be issued for any remaining plan value. You should download any photos or data you wish to keep before deleting your account. Billing records are retained as required by UK tax law (see our Privacy Policy).

We may suspend or terminate your account or any individual event at any time and without notice if you violate these terms, upload illegal or prohibited content, or use the service in a way that threatens the security or integrity of the platform. Where suspension or termination results from a breach of these terms, no refund will be issued for any paid plan, regardless of any remaining plan value.

10. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for: death or personal injury caused by our negligence; fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by applicable law.

Subject to the above, Ode Events is provided “as is”. We are not liable for any indirect or consequential damages arising from use of the service. We are not liable for loss of data that occurs after the retention period for your plan has elapsed or as a result of your failure to export content before scheduled deletion.

Our total liability for any claim arising from use of the service shall not exceed the greater of: (a) the amount you paid for your most recent event activation, or (b) £50.

11. Service availability

We may temporarily suspend access to the service for routine maintenance, security updates, or to protect the platform from abuse or excessive usage. Where possible, we will give advance notice of planned maintenance.

We are not liable for any failure or delay in providing the service caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: infrastructure outages at our hosting or storage providers, internet disruption, natural disasters, or government actions.

12. Changes to terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version will always be available at this URL with the date it was last updated. Continued use of the service following any update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

13. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Scotland. We encourage you to contact us first at hello@ode.events to resolve any dispute informally. If we cannot resolve the matter, you may refer it to an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) provider or the courts. Any legal proceedings shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Scotland, without prejudice to any mandatory rights you may have as a consumer to bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence.
